Hi, sorry it's been a while, this is essentially an inactive account nowdays, I just felt that this needed to be said.

I thought deviantart was pretty good on most issues.  Hell, they made everything purple for spirit day right?  Then I saw this: transfinite.dreamwidth.org/215…

I am really disgusted with deviantart right now.  To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the community here to start with, I keep this page open just as an archive of old work and to keep an eye on the art of certain artists whose stuff I like.  But to have the deviantart staff be so openly bigoted and transphobic makes me really angry.  I am honestly thinking of deleting this account, despite the fact it'll mean missing out on some people's work, I don't want to feel like I'm supporting a website with these views.

I don't know how you guys feel, but I'm just saying my piece.

Haven't posted a journal in AGES.  Sorry.  School, revision, exams, drawing.  Essentially, I've not had enough time.  Anyway, this journal's gonna be aboutb my plans re: my comics.

First off, I'm in the middle of a 1 page black and white comic I'm planning to have as a flyer or a cheap print at cons, when I start exhibiting.  I'll put a low res version up here when it's finished.  It's a little wierd and abstract, but I think it makes sense.  I've mostly been working on it between revision sessions, so it's slow progress.

Secondly, over the summer, I'm going to do a black and white mini comic, somehwere between 6 and ten pages long (that's story pages.  I'll bulk it out with other stuff as necessary to get it so it actually works as a physical comic).  That's for a friend's birthday, but with his permission I'll sell it at cons.

Thirdly, and most importantly to some extent, the webcomic I've had planned for about 1 1/2 years now went through massive conceptual changes over the weekend, to the point that the only thing that's really the same is the name: Road Safety Ninja.  Before, it was a crazy, surreal, jokey nonsensy comic based on cliches (particularly anime cliches).  Now it's a 6th form slice of life/jokey comic.  It'll take some stuff from personal experience (I'll have just finished 6th form when I start it in the summer) and other stuff will be entirely made up.  Overall, the change is definitely a good one.  The reason for it was the fact that the original concept had so many fundamental problems that I could just not iron out.  I might use the original concept in a few minis, but otherwise it's gone.

With all that said though, I'll probably need some help with learning to use wordpress/comicpress.  If anyone would be willing to teach me some of the basics, like actually putting comics up, and personalising the sites appearance, I would be so, so so grateful.  I'd probably be so grateful that I'd do you a painting or something and send it to you (hint hint)

First off, happy new year, hope you've had a good first day or two :) ALSO hope you had a good NYE.  i dressed as a red carpet.  funky XD

anyway, PHOTOGRAPHY: have any of you lot heard of lomographic cameras? I found their website about half an hour ago and i'm already planning to buy one or two... I'm particularly loving uk.shop.lomography.com/cameras… and uk.shop.lomography.com/cameras… (the first one in particular looks like it can produce some really nice stuff if you use it right).  they also do cameras with built in fisheyes pretty cheaply, and pinhole cameras and and and i'm geeking out sooooo much about this XD

in other news, i've found a really cheap fountain pen that's pretty nice for drawing with, a size 0 flat brush works disturbingly well for inking, and also berol handwriting pens seem to be very good for if you want a varying line weight.  seriously.  i'm kinda scared.

I've been doing 45 second figure drawing with the help of posemaniacs.com 's 30 second drawing feature (which lets you go all the way up to 90 seconds ¬_¬  but seriously, it's really neat, and it's helping me get a good idea of how muscles work and stuff.  if i feel like it i'll put up some of the sketches.  might even ink a couple, to compare brush, berol and fountain pen (not fineliner.  i've finally decided that they are the ugliest unless you're going for 'sketchy' in which case they rank as 'ok'.  but no more than that.

heres to a good twenty ten! (ooh i'm so cool i'm writing it in WORDS.  yeah.
